Foil Equipment for Beginners is provided by NMFF until level II

Non-electric Foil (Dry) Recreational Uniform:

Fencers must have athletic shoes. Fencers must have sweat pants or loose fitting clothes. Fencers must wear a single short sleeve shirt.

Mask, Jacket, Glove, Chest Plate are stored at the club for fencers use.

Shipping is a consideration so I suggest a lump order if cost is an issue.

There are no vendors in New Mexico.

There is no good place to get used equipment.

You may get lucky with Ebay so it doesn't hurt to look, but shipping negates any real savings.

Level II Foil Uniform: Fencers must purchase a complete Non-electric Foil uniform. Starter Kits are recommended.

Basic items include a mask, underarm protector, knickers (pants), chest plate (youth & girls), a glove, and a jacket.

-Sizing charts should be on the vendor website but call them to confirm your size

-Specify saber mask if fencing saber (will not be acceptable for foil/epee)

Weapon:

Here are our best choices for weapons

-Uhlmann Visconte grip (do not order a French grip) usually size same as mask.

-German components (tip, barrel, body cord socket, etc.).

Complete Foil - Best company in Fencing. It is like buying a cheap Mercedes, worth every penny.

Complete Epee - Less expensive epees are heavier and stiffer. This is the most durable and balanced epee on the market for junior epee fencers. Only exception is the Allstar.

PURCHASING:

For beginners that just want the basics we suggest The Fencing Post as solid vendors for most purchases. TFP carries everything that a beginning fencer needs and more.

There is no need to get the most expensive equipment offered. Here we have put together a basic package that should suit most beginners. If you have specific questions please email Head Coach James Odom.

RENTAL:

Mask, Jacket and Glove are available for rental at $10 per month. You will be able to take the equipment home for maintenance and cleaning.

STORAGE:

We offer lockers at $50 per semester or $120 per year.
